When we look at the SIxers' salary situation next season, it's hard to find a way to wiggle them under the luxury tax with some kind of a trade. There is one thing that could change that equation, though. Willie Green's early-termination option.

Believe it or not, I thoroughly enjoyed that game. The Sixers didn't mail this one in, the guys on the floor played hard. There was some excitement in the form of a half dozen Iguodala dunks and Elton Brand's excellent play on the blocks. It was a disappointment to see Jrue saddled with foul problems, but overall, a fun game to watch. If a win mattered, it would've maddened me, but all I was really looking for was some entertainment out of the night, and the teams delivered.

I'm jealous of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Not because I think they're necessarily contenders. Not because they won the lottery even without suffering through a full-on tank season and not because they have Kevin Durant. I'm jealous of OKC because they have actually created an identity and their players are developing on an upward trend. Is that really too much to ask from a team?

Kate Fagan's article this morning talks a lot about a glaring need for the Sixers, a shooting guard. This is nothing new, and the past two games illustrate the difference having a capable spot-up shooter can make to the other players who will most likely be on the team next season. Here's my question to you: Why does the perimeter threat have to come from the shooting guard?

Just one day without lamenting the ramifications of this win, that's my proposal. Forget about how important losses are and just revel in what was an excellent game of basketball and hopefully a glimpse of what will fuel this team in the future (Jrue and Iguodala). Spend your Saturday thinking about the game on the court we saw Friday night, the other stuff, well it can wait until Sunday.

The Hawks are currently deadlocked with the Celtics for the #3 seed in the East, only 3.5 games behind the Magic (who they beat on Wednesday) for the #2 seed, and clearly have a ton of motivation to win this game against the cellar-dwelling Sixers. Hopefully, the Sixers don't realize that and try to do something foolish, like play the spoiler.
